Hôtel imperial (room only) - Built in 1865, this charming hotel is located in the heart of Sliema, a five minute walk from the beach and popular promenade with its cafes, restaurants and retail outlets. The capital Valletta and vibrant St Julian's are a short bus ride away, whilst the airport is a further 30 minute drive. A 19th century building with architectural influences from the Victorian period. A limited parking is available outside hotel for inhouse guests. A unique property offering its guests a walk through the island's history. The outdoor pool is open seasonally and offers guests a relaxing hideout amongst urban Sliema. Highly recommended to those wanting to stay in a more authentic hotel in contrast to the newer properties on the island. (DB 01/09).

Rooms are basic but large and well maintained. Units in the original part of the building are very spacious, with high ceilings and views on either the internal garden or on the street. All equipped with air-conditioning and heating, direct dialling telephone, radio, TV, tea and coffee making facilities and safe hire.

The restaurant is large with decor in keeping with the rest of the property. A variety of local and other European specialities are on the menu. Alternatively the pool bar, open seasonally, offers refreshments and light snacks.

The spacious lobby is focused around the sweeping staircase that leads to the first floor. Original elegant furnishings add to the rich character offered at this hotel.
